Treatment of Anxiety Disorders

What makes an effective treatment?

To be effective, an eclectic combination of treatments must address these three elements:

  • Physical symptoms
  • Anxious or fearful thoughts
  • Anxious behaviors (e.g. avoidance)

There are a multitude of options for treating anxiety and anxiety disorders, but few address the problem directly, work quickly or are permanent or natural. It is common for anxiety sufferers to be pushed from pillar to post, desperately searching for a solution to this horrible condition.

Conventional medicine doesn't reveal any answers, in fact, so many people are deserted by their medical practitioners as a result of literally running out of things to try.

Medication has its place in the treatment of certain illnesses but in the case of anxiety disorders, panic attacks and phobias, has very limited usefulness.

So what are the alternatives? Homeopathy? Psychotherapy? Exercise? A mixture of all of these treatments?

All of these anxiety treatments have value, but anyone would be very hard pushed to find more than a handful of individuals who have responded to these therapies used in isolation. The issue is not one of 'which one works?' but more of 'what combination is most therapeutic?'

It seems that most curative treatments are based on an 'either-or' method of healthcare, none adopt the holistic approach. The truth is that doctors have been puzzling over what is the best course of treatment for decades and have not come up with an answer which provides the sufferer with a fast, effective and permanent solution. Till now there hasn?t been one!

There are numerous web resources which claim instant success and permanent changes; some include breathing contraptions, anxiety diaries, exercises, written work and many other weird and wonderful methods but few have the easy to digest, easy to implement, supportive and empathetic approach that 'The Linden Method Programme' has demonstrated across the world. This programme is written by Charles Linden, an ex sufferer, who appears to have discovered the correct combination of treatment for total and permanent relief from anxiety disorders, panic attacks and phobias, this is sometimes refered to as an eclectic approach.

The programme includes written, CD and video media, all backed up by email support. A review of the programme by an ex-programme member reads:

I was completely housebound when I became involved in Charles' program. I couldn't leave my bedroom without fearing that I would panic and vomit. I had previously been dragged to relaxation classes, Psychologists and Doctors who offered me the same advice and drugs. I was desperate and alone. I heard of Charles through a friend and got involved in his program. I used and read all of the materials without putting them down. They gave me the inner strength and reassurance I needed it all became clear, I was not alone and I was not dying or going mad. Within just a few days I was back on my feet and going for walks with my Mum and now just a few months later, I am back at work. I would say to anyone suffering the hell I went through, that Charles' programme showed me how I could be better again and gave me the inner strength I needed to return to normal.
